5th November 2024, Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi – A major development project aimed at boosting local businesses and providing better infrastructure for trade was launched in Bhawanipatna on Monday. The Bhawanipatna Municipality has laid the foundation for a new daily market (Dainik Market) in Ward No. 20, with an estimated investment of ₹2.97 crore. The initiative is expected to benefit over 5,000 traders and shopkeepers in the area.
The new market will include the construction of 250 shops and commercial spaces, designed to cater to a variety of needs. These will be used for selling perishables like meat, fish, fruits, and vegetables. Additionally, the market will feature designated areas for smaller vendors and independent sellers, providing a structured space for them to operate.
At the inauguration ceremony, several key figures were present. Kalahandi MP Malvika Kesari Deo, Bhawanipatna Municipality Chairperson Vishnu Pradhan, Senior IAS Officer Kasturi Panda, Municipality Executive Officer Satya Sampurna Raut, and all the local councilors attended the event.
The Need for a Modern Market
The new daily market is expected to provide local business owners with much-needed space and infrastructure, boosting the local economy. With growing population and urbanization, the old markets in Bhawanipatna were increasingly unable to meet the demand for commercial spaces. This new facility will help streamline trade, provide modern amenities for vendors, and improve the overall shopping experience for consumers.
The Vision Behind the Project
The primary objective of this project is to create a well-organized market where business owners can thrive in a more systematic environment. The municipal authorities have emphasized that the market will not only cater to the needs of established traders but will also give small-scale and independent vendors the opportunity to expand their businesses.
With an estimated ₹2.97 crore investment, the new market is expected to enhance the economic prospects of Bhawanipatna. It will not only accommodate more traders but also improve sanitation and infrastructure, ensuring better convenience for both vendors and customers.
Key Features of the New Market
• 250 Shops and Stalls: The construction of 250 shops will help address the growing demand for commercial spaces in the region.
• Designated Areas for Small Vendors: Special spaces will be set aside for independent traders dealing with perishables like meat, fish, and fruits, ensuring they have a dedicated area for their products.
• Modern Amenities: The new market will come with proper sanitation, water supply, and waste management systems, creating a cleaner and safer environment for both vendors and shoppers.
• Boost to Local Economy: With more businesses set to benefit, the market will play a crucial role in generating more employment and improving the income of local traders.
