EPFO Steps Up Efforts to Bring More Employees Under Social Security Cover

New Delhi, Aug 22: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a special enrolment drive to encourage employers to bring eligible workers who are currently outside the social security system under EPF coverage.

The Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 will remain open until October 31, 2026. The initiative is aimed at helping more employees gain access to provident fund savings, pension benefits and insurance protection.

Under the campaign, establishments can identify eligible employees who were not enrolled in the EPF scheme during the period from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2026. The special window is intended to make it easier for employers to correct gaps in social security coverage.

The EPFO has encouraged establishments to review their employee records and take steps to enrol workers who meet the eligibility requirements.

The enrolment process will be carried out through the EPFO’s online system. Employees can also complete the required Universal Account Number (UAN) process through the UMANG App, using face authentication.

The campaign is expected to help workers build long-term financial security through regular provident fund contributions while also giving them greater access to pension and insurance benefits.

The EPFO has urged employers to make use of the special window before the deadline and ensure that eligible employees are brought into the formal social security network.

The initiative is part of the broader effort to expand social security coverage, strengthen worker protection and encourage greater participation in India’s formal employment system.
