New Delhi, Sep 4: India’s strong economic growth and expanding financial ecosystem are drawing greater interest from global risk-management and professional-services firms, with Marsh Re looking to deepen its presence in the country.

Sitharaman’s Global Outreach Gets Boost as Marsh Re Plans to Expand in India

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman discussed India’s growing investment opportunities with Marsh Re President and CEO Dean Klisura, along with senior company executives, during a meeting in New York.

Sitharaman highlighted India’s large domestic market, skilled workforce, expanding infrastructure and digital capabilities, pointing to the country’s 7.8 per cent GDP growth in the first quarter of FY 2026-27 as a sign of the economy’s continued strength.

She also highlighted the government’s reform-focused approach and the improving business environment as factors that can support greater participation by global companies in India.

Marsh Re welcomed the reforms and indicated that it is keen to further expand its operations in India. The company also highlighted its growing engagement with GIFT City, strengthening its participation in the financial ecosystem and exploring opportunities across a wider range of products and services.

The discussions underline the growing importance of GIFT City as India seeks to attract more international financial and professional-services businesses. Its expanding ecosystem is creating new opportunities for companies involved in insurance, reinsurance, financial services and related areas.

The latest engagement also reflects India’s broader push to attract global capital and expertise as the economy expands. With strong domestic demand, a growing pool of skilled talent and continued financial-sector development, India is increasingly positioning itself as a strategic market for international companies.

Greater participation by global firms such as Marsh Re could bring additional investment, expertise and business opportunities, while strengthening India’s position as a growing hub for financial and risk-management services.
