World Skill Centre Bhubaneswar Earns National Centre of Excellence Recognition

With this recognition, the Odisha-based institution has joined an elite group of 19 institutions empanelled under the national Centre of Excellence framework, strengthening the state’s position in India’s skill development landscape.

The Certificate of Recognition was presented to World Skill Centre CEO Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra by MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee at a ceremony held at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi on November 2, 2026.

The empanelment, granted under the multi-sectoral category, will remain valid for three years, from October 9, 2026, to October 8, 2029. It recognises the institution’s ability to deliver advanced, industry-oriented skill training across multiple sectors.

Established under the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education, Government of Odisha, the World Skill Centre has emerged as an important hub for technology-enabled vocational education and professional training. The institution focuses on practical learning, advanced technical competencies and close collaboration with industry to prepare young people for evolving employment opportunities.

Reacting to the achievement, WSC CEO Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra described the recognition as an important milestone in the institution’s journey. He expressed confidence that the recognition would further strengthen WSC’s contribution to India’s growing skill development ecosystem.

Under the Centre of Excellence-Skills framework, empanelled institutions are expected to play a wider role in strengthening the country’s vocational training ecosystem. Their responsibilities include specialised skill training, skill assessment, mentorship, career guidance and capacity-building programmes for trainers and assessors.

The national recognition is expected to provide the World Skill Centre with a stronger platform to expand its expertise, promote industry-relevant training and contribute to building a skilled and future-ready workforce.
