Sri Mandir enables devotees worldwide to light a diya for Prabhu Shri Ram in Ayodhya this Diwali

Ayodhya, India  13 Oct 2025: Devotees across India and abroad can now light diyas (lamps) in the name of Lord Shri Ram at Ayodhya this Diwali directly through the Sri Mandir app. Under this unique ‘Deepotsav initiative,’ devotees can choose to light 1, 5, 21, or 51 diyas in Ayodhya from the comfort of their homes. Once booked, priests in Ayodhya perform the sankalp (prayer) and personally light diyas in the devotees’ names. Each devotee receives a video recording of their diya lighting within the app, ensuring a personal spiritual connection with Lord Ram.

The diya lighting takes place near Hanuman Garhi Temple on the banks of the Saryu River, replicating the sacred atmosphere of Ayodhya’s Deepotsav. Sri Mandir has set a target of lighting one lakh diyas this Diwali, doubling last year’s milestone of 50,000 lamps.

The Sri Mandir platform is India’s largest devotional ecosystem, offering digital puja, chadhava (offerings), and prasad delivery from over 100 temples. With more than 4 crore users worldwide, the app is transforming how devotees experience worship and temple rituals in the digital age.

Prashant Sachan, CEO and Founder of Sri Mandir said, “We are deeply pleased to enable millions of devotees to connect with Ram Lalla from anywhere in the world through the Sri Mandir app. This is not just a technological advancement, but a spiritual bridge allowing devotees to express their faith without boundaries.”

On October 19, Sri Mandir will also host a Akhanda Ramayana Path at Ayodhya’s historic Rajdwar Temple, streamed live on the app. Devotees can also contribute towards vastra daan (clothing), anna daan (grains), and bhojan daan (meals) through the platform.

A devotee from Los Angeles, Ankit, shared his experience, “I am from Faizabad and I have always travelled to Ayodhya during Diwali to personally light diyas in devotion to Lord Ram. However, due to the current H1B visa restrictions, I was unable to visit India this year. Through the Sri Mandir app, a priest lit diyas in my name in Ayodhya, allowing me to feel deeply connected to the divine celebration despite being thousands of miles away.”

This year’s campaign underscores how technology and devotion can come together to help devotees stay spiritually connected with Ayodhya and Lord Ram no matter where they are.
