New Delhi, 24th Jan 2025: NTPC in collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has showcased its long haul Hydrogen FCEB at the heart of Mahakumbh 2025. This is to enable visitors and dignitaries to experience a cutting-edge green mobility solution from NTPC.
The hydrogen bus is on display for the entire duration of Mahakumbh 2025 which is till 26th February.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) led by MNRE has supported NTPC in the development of Green Hydrogen refuelling stations at Greater Noida and Bhubaneswar as well as in the deployment of these buses. These state-of-the-art buses are capable of storing up to 50 kg of hydrogen at 350 bar in a single refuelling session and can travel over 600 km before requiring a refill.
The buses emit only clean water vapour which showcases NTPC’s commitment to decarbonisation and energy security by advancing clean and green fuel solutions.
NTPC’s green mobility initiatives go beyond the Mahakumbh display. NTPC continues to lead the way in green mobility solutions with several groundbreaking initiatives. The recent launch of Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses in Leh, part of the world’s highest-altitude Green Hydrogen Mobility Project, highlights its commitment to sustainable transportation at 3,650 meters above sea level. Additionally, the inauguration of NTPC’s Green Hydrogen Hub Project in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 1.85 lakh crore, is also set to accelerate clean energy efforts.
Further strengthening its green mobility vision, NGEL signed an MoU with Deendayal Port Authority in January 2025 to advance green hydrogen technologies at Kandla Port, Gujarat. These steps reinforce NTPC’s dedication to pioneering green energy and mobility solutions.
