India’s energy sector continues to evolve, as highlighted in the latest report by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The steady rise in energy supply and consumption, alongside record coal production of 997.83 million tonnes and renewable energy potential exceeding 2,100 GW, reflects the country’s commitment to meeting its growing demands while advancing sustainability. However, with import dependencies on crude oil (89%) and natural gas (46.6%), resilient and transparent supply chains have never been more critical. At Achilles, we believe responsible sourcing, risk mitigation, and supplier collaboration will play a pivotal role in ensuring India’s energy security and accelerating its transition towards a more sustainable future. Industry and policymakers must work hand in hand to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility as India moves towards its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
