Bhubaneswar, May 15 : Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the Odisha Retired Police Officers’ Welfare Association, organized a health talk and screening camp at the Traffic Police Station Auditorium in Bhubaneswar. The event, held from 10 AM to 1 PM, brought together nearly 150 retired police officers from across Odisha. The session focused on three major health domains: Cardiology, Neurology, and Orthopedics, to raise awareness about age-related health issues, promote preventive care, and dispel common myths related to wellness in a sedentary lifestyle. The event was addressed by Mr. Suryamani Tripathy, President of the Odisha Retired Police Officers’ Welfare Association, along with Shri Narsingha Bhol, IPS (Addl. Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack), DCP Tapan Kumar Mohanty, and ACP Suchismita Das, OPS (IT & Media Cell, Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar).
The event featured expert talks by senior consultants from Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, including Dr. Dibya Ranjan Behera, Consultant – Interventional Cardiologist; Dr. Harekrishna Sahu, Consultant- Orthopedics; and Dr. Amlan Tapan Mahapatra, Associate Consultant – Neurology. Each expert provided comprehensive insights on some of the most common and critical ailments faced by the elderly, ranging from heart disease and joint pain to neurological concerns such as stroke and dementia.
On this occasion, Shri Narsingha Bhol, IPS (Addl. Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack) added, “After a lifetime of service, health often takes a backseat. It’s heartening to see Manipal Hospital offer genuine support, reminding us that our well-being remains a priority even after retirement.”

In the respective sessions, the doctors emphasized early symptom recognition, regular screenings, lifestyle adjustments, and medication adherence. Participants engaged enthusiastically, raising queries on managing chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and memory-related issues. As part of the initiative, Manipal Sathi Privilege Cards were distributed to all members of the Odisha Retired Police Officers’ Association, providing access to exclusive healthcare benefits such as discounts on services, priority appointments, and wellness counseling, which can also be availed by their family members.
