New Delhi, July 22: The Centre has released ₹2,208.74 crore to states as part of its continued efforts to accelerate growth in India’s fisheries sector and strengthen the livelihoods of millions associated with fishing and allied activities.
The financial assistance is aimed at supporting key initiatives in the fisheries ecosystem, including improving infrastructure, promoting sustainable practices, enhancing productivity, and expanding opportunities for fish farmers and coastal communities.
The funding support comes under the government’s broader strategy to modernise the fisheries sector through better facilities, advanced technology adoption, improved supply chains, and increased market access.
