New Delhi, Dec 9: Lovely Professional University has been designated as one of the nodal centres for the prestigious Smart India Hackathon 2025 Hardware Edition Grand Finale, organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The five-day national finale will take place from 8th to 12th December 2025 across 60 nodal centres nationwide, with LPU hosting one of them.
Smart India Hackathon stands as a flagship national program empowering students to solve real-world problems through innovation, creativity, and technological problem-solving. For SIH 2025, over 8,000+ student teams, each consisting of six members, have been shortlisted for the final round after a rigorous, country-wide selection process.
This year’s edition includes 250+ problem statements submitted by 54 ministries, departments, industries, and PSUs—reflecting the initiative’s expanding reach and relevance. These challenges span 17 key themes, including Healthcare, Supply Chain & Logistics, Smart Technologies, Heritage & Culture, Sustainability, Education & Skill Development, Water, Agriculture & Food, Disaster Management, and Emerging Technologies. Winning teams will be awarded a INR 1 lakh cash prize for breakthrough solutions.
At its nodal centre, LPU will host 20 shortlisted teams (150 participants) working on problem statements from the Government of Punjab and the AICTE–MIC Student Innovation category. The university has equipped participants with state-of-the-art labs, modern hardware capabilities, expert mentorship, and a vibrant innovation culture to support them throughout the five-day prototype-building marathon.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, stated that the university’s selection as a nodal centre for the sixth consecutive year reinforces its commitment to fostering innovation, technological excellence, and entrepreneurial talent among India’s youth. He added that SIH not only fuels creative problem-solving but also enables collaboration and learning among bright young minds nationwide.
