Mumbai: Living a healthy life is a fundamental right. However, in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, people often end up neglecting their health. To raise awareness about the importance of maintaining good health, World Health Day is observed every year on April 7.

Health is true wealth, and early detection of diseases is key to living a better life. Timely diagnosis allows for early treatment, which can significantly improve outcomes. Regular health check-ups help people make informed lifestyle choices—such as eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly—which in turn reduces the risk of various diseases.

With this awareness in mind, Wockhardt Hospital in Mira Road organized a free health check-up camp for journalists. The check-up included blood sugar testing, blood pressure monitoring, ECG, calcium level testing, pulmonary function test (PFT) to assess lung performance, eye check-up, and consultation with doctors.

Sharing more information about the initiative, Dr. Pankaj Dhamija, Centre Head of Wockhardt Hospital, said, “Diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart conditions often develop without noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Regular check-ups help healthcare professionals detect these issues early, when they are usually more treatable and the chances of recovery are higher.” He further added, “Journalism is a highly demanding and stressful profession, often leading to unintentional neglect of health. Understanding this, Wockhardt Hospital organized this health camp for journalists and their families residing from Mira Road to Palghar. Over 40 journalists participated in this initiative.”
