February 10th 2025: On International Epilepsy Day, Sarvodaya Hospital, a leading multi-specialty hospital in Faridabad, organized a ‘Health Talk’ aimed at dispelling common myths surrounding epilepsy, addressing its impact on women, and educating society on how to better support individuals living with the condition. The session featured expert neurologists from Sarvodaya Hospital, (Dr. Ritu Jha, HOD & Associate Director – Neurology and Dr. Rajender Singla Senior Consultant – Neurology) who emphasized that epilepsy is often misperceived as a psychological issue rather than a treatable neurological disorder. They also highlighted the unique challenges faced by women with epilepsy, including hormonal influences, pregnancy-related concerns, and societal stigma. A key focus of the discussion was the vital role of society in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for epilepsy patients. Individuals living with epilepsy also shared their personal journeys, shedding light on the realities of managing the condition and advocating for greater awareness and acceptance. A painting competition, themed “Epilepsy aur meri duniya (Epilepsy and My World),” encouraged creative expression among young epilepsy patients aged 5 to 15. Additionally, students from Sarvodaya Nursing Institute (SNI) presented a skit to raise awareness about epilepsy.
