Federal Aviation Administration Extends Solace Partnership to Support National Airspace System Modernization

Enhanced SWIM Cloud Services to transform how airlines, agencies, and air navigation service providers access and share real-time flight data

OTTAWA, ON, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Solace, the real-time data platform for the enterprise, today announced an extension to its partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to support the modernization of SWIM (System Wide Information Management), the FAA’s national aviation data network which distributes real-time flight plans, surveillance data, weather events, and airspace notices to airlines, the Department of Defense, air navigation service providers, and the flying public.

Since 2011, SWIM has underpinned real-time aviation data movement across the U.S. airspace, powered by the Solace Platform. With Solace’s support, the FAA is delivering the Enhanced SWIM Cloud Services (ESCS), a modernization of SWIM’s developer experience and data exchange model. Specifically, ESCS will enhance bidirectional data flow, giving FAA Data Partners a path to publish data back into SWIM and participate in collaborative decision-making.

Additionally, Word-file documentation will be replaced with machine-readable APIs built on the AsyncAPI standard, so any authorized data consumer can discover available event streams and subscribe without months of manual coordination, dramatically reducing onboarding timelines.

Looking ahead, the live, bidirectional event streams created by ESCS will set the stage for advanced AI decision support and next-generation data sharing, enabling advanced analytics and strategic flight-path optimization tools to use real-time aviation data streams.
