New Delhi, July 21: India’s fish production has increased significantly to 197.75 lakh tonnes, supported by various initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the government said.
The growth reflects continued efforts to strengthen the fisheries sector, improve infrastructure, enhance productivity, and support the livelihoods of millions of people dependent on fishing and allied activities.
Under PMMSY, the government has focused on promoting sustainable fisheries development through better technology adoption, improved fish farming practices, modern infrastructure, and value-chain development.
