April 22nd, 2025 | India: Pursuing the continued drive for greener and sustainable energy solutions, IRM Energy Limited has signed a Tripartite Agreement (TPA) with IAV Biogas Pvt. Ltd. and GAIL (India) Limited on 17th April 2025, under the CBG-CGD Synchronization Scheme, for the offtake of Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) in the Namakkal and Tiruchirappalli Geographical Area (GA) of Tamil Nadu.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in advancing Indiaโ€™s clean energy vision by integrating Compressed Bio-Gas into the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network. This collaborative step reinforces the Government of Indiaโ€™s larger objective of enhancing energy security, promoting sustainable waste-to-energy solutions, and contributing meaningfully to rural development.

On this occasion, Mr. M. K. Sharma, CEO, IRM Energy Limited, shared his thoughts:
โ€œThis agreement is a step forward towards integration of sustainable practices in energy distribution. We are proud to collaborate with GAIL and IAV Biogas Pvt. Ltd. in bringing cleaner fuel solutions to the forefront. This step not only aligns with our strategic vision but also contributes to Indiaโ€™s mission of becoming a greener and more self-reliant energy nation.โ€

The CBG-CGD Synchronization Scheme, launched by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), aims to promote the blending of CBG with natural gas across the CGD network, while contributing to Indiaโ€™s Net-Zero and climate action goals. Efficient utilization of agri-residues and organic waste for Bio-gas production supports Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) scheme of MoPNG besides complying mandatory blending obligation of the company.

Under this agreement, IRM Energy Limited will offtake upto 3000 SCMD of CBG from IAV Biogas Pvt. Ltd. for distribution through its CGD network in the Namakkal and Tiruchirappalli districts.

Senior officials from all three organizations were present at the signing ceremony, showcasing a shared commitment to driving Indiaโ€™s low-carbon transition through innovation and collaboration.

This initiative stands as a shining example of how cross-sector collaboration can effectively drive the clean energy agenda while fostering innovation, environmental responsibility, and inclusive economic growth.
