Mumbai,ย Dec 9: Khetika, one of Indiaโs largest clean-label food brands built on purity and honest sourcing, has announced the launch of SAATHI (Sustainable Agriculture and Training Hub for Impact)a large-scale farmer-first program aimed at improving farmer income, elevating crop quality, and accelerating the adoption of sustainable, climate-positive agricultural practices.
Indiaโs agricultural landscape continues to face key challenges including weak market linkages, low technology adoption, delayed payments, limited cultivation training, and dependence on intermediaries issues that directly impact farmer earnings. A McKinsey & Company survey indicates that only 2% of Indian farmers use agri-tech hardware or software, while just 4% use digital agronomy tools, reflecting a substantial opportunity for improvement in productivity and income stability.
How SAATHI Will Transform the Farm-to-Market Chain;
Khetikaโs SAATHI initiative resolves these longstanding gaps by establishing a tech-integrated, transparent system that connects farmers directly to the market, enables better pricing, and supports cultivation of crops aligned with consumer demand. The program further combats consumer-side concerns like adulteration, nutrient loss, and low ingredient quality by promoting organic, pesticide-free cultivation and offering structured Packages of Practices (PoPs) for standardised, nutrient-rich produce.
Each SAATHI Farmer Training Centre will function as a one-stop agricultural development hub equipped with:
-
Training and demonstration facilities
-
Quality-testing labs (moisture, grading, sampling)
-
Digital weighment and QR-coded crop tracking
-
Primary cleaning and grading systems
-
Rapid โค24-hour farmer payment processing
These centres will be integrated with SuperKHET and SuperGRTโKhetikaโs proprietary digital systems that track crop quality from seed to harvest for complete transparency.
Phase-One Rollout & Scale;
In its initial rollout, SAATHI will be launched across key agricultural belts in:
Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
Each centre is expected to onboard over 2,000 farmers and enable 40%+ direct local sourcing. Key focus crops include chilli, turmeric, cumin, coriander, soybean, mustard, pulses, sesame, bajra, cardamom, black pepper, and clove.
Leadership Quote;
Dr. Prithwi Singh, CEO & Co-Founder, Khetika, said:
โSAATHI is a long-term structural solution to bridge the gaps that limit farmer growth. Farmers donโt just need supportโthey need fair, transparent systems built around their realities. With training, technology and direct linkages, the entire value chain becomes stronger and more sustainable. SAATHI aligns purity with prosperity, ensuring that clean, honest food begins at the farm with empowered farmers.โ
Farmer Upskilling & Certification;
Under the initiative, farmers will receive continuous training in:
-
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
-
Organic & low-residue cultivation
-
Soil & water management
-
Agri-tech adoption
-
Post-harvest handling & financial literacy
Certification under SAATHI will provide preferred procurement access, long-term incentives, and traceability-linked benefits within Khetikaโs sourcing network.
