Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25 (UDN): Rainfall activity is likely to remain intense across several parts of Odisha as a depression over the region moves inland towards Chhattisgarh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The weather system, which had earlier intensified into a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal, has weakened into a depression. However, its influence continues to trigger heavy rainfall in several southern and western districts of the state.
Red Alert for Three Districts
The IMD has issued a red warning for Koraput, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert as intense rain could lead to waterlogging and disruption in low-lying areas.
Depression to Track Towards Chhattisgarh
The depression is expected to move further towards Chhattisgarh, bringing continued rainfall to parts of western and southern Odisha, particularly areas close to the state border.
Nuapada has been placed under an orange warning, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at one or two places.
The movement of the weather system is also expected to influence rainfall patterns across adjoining districts over the next several hours.
Nine Districts Under Yellow Alert
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for Sundargarh, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Several of these areas are likely to receive continued spells of rain as the depression gradually weakens while moving inland.
Rainfall Activity to Continue
With the system still influencing the weather over Odisha, authorities and residents in the alert districts are being urged to closely monitor official weather updates.
The IMD is expected to continue tracking the depression as it moves towards Chhattisgarh and weakens further.
