New Delhi, Sep 24: Two-time Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo has been named the International Event Ambassador for the Delhi Half Marathon 2026, bringing her experience and passion for athletics to one of India’s major distance-running events.
The Bahamian sprinter will be associated with the 21st edition of the race, scheduled for October 18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The event will bring together professional athletes, amateur runners and fitness enthusiasts.
Miller-Uibo won the women’s 400m gold at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Her Tokyo victory made her only the second woman, after Marie-José Pérec, to successfully defend an Olympic 400m title. She also won the 400m world title in 2022.
For Miller-Uibo, the Delhi event is also an opportunity to connect with runners in India. She said she hopes her journey encourages participants to remain consistent, trust their progress and keep moving forward one step at a time.
Her association adds an international athletics presence to this year’s race while highlighting the wider appeal of running as a sport and fitness activity in India.
