  • Debut Feature Film ‘Contradiction’ Wins Best Director at Indie Vegas Film Festival

No-budget psychological thriller is recognized following debut in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (MAY 26, 2026) — Contradiction, the debut feature film from writer-director Pierce Kafka, was awarded best director after screening for the first time at Indie Vegas Film Festival on May 1.

Produced entirely as a no-budget independent feature, Contradiction stood out at the festival for its stylised storytelling and ambitious creative execution. The award marks a major milestone for Kafka’s first feature film and highlights the growing recognition of emerging independent filmmakers outside of traditional studio production.

Set in 1990s Miami, the film follows a security guard whose life begins to unravel after meeting a dangerously charismatic coworker. It explores themes of fear, identity, and self-destruction, while also tapping into broader conversations around indie filmmaking and creative risk-taking.

“We made Contradiction as a true no-budget independent thriller, built entirely on passion, resourcefulness, and a deep belief in the story we wanted to tell,” says Pierce Kafka. “Winning Best Director at our first-ever film festival means a lot because it represents what independent filmmaking is all about. Through trusting the vision and taking risks, you can connect your story to audiences in a meaningful way regardless of resources.”

With a background that spans award-winning creative campaigns, public speaking, and personal experiences, Kafka’s personal and professional experiences helped shape the film’s introspective tone and visual style.

Indie Vegas Film Festival is a platform dedicated to showcasing independent filmmakers and original storytelling in the heart of Las Vegas. Now in its third year, the festival highlights a diverse slate of films across genres.

  • Beyond the Crown: Femina Miss India 2026 Winners Share Their Dreams, Purpose and Resilience in Femina’s May–June Issue

Mumbai, June 2 :  Femina’s May-June 2026 Cover Story shines the spotlight on the remarkable women who emerged as the winners of 61st Femina Miss India 2026: Sadhvi Sail, Femina Miss India World 2026; Rajnandini Pawar, Femina Miss India – 1st Runner Up; and Dr Sree Advaita, Femina Miss India 2026 – 2nd Runner Up. The trio opens up about their journeys, ambitions, personal challenges, and the purpose they hope to champion through their platforms.

Beyond the Crown: Femina Miss India 2026 Winners Share Their Dreams, Purpose and Resilience in Femina’s May–June Issue

Fresh from her crowning moment, Femina Miss India World 2026 Sadhvi Sail reflects on the surreal experience of becoming Femina Miss India World 2026 and the dreams that led her there. “After being crowned, I remember standing on the stage and looking at Nikita Porwal (Femina Miss India World 2024) beside me, thinking,

‘Oh my God, I had a vision board back in 2025 with her crowning moment on it.’ I kept reminding myself that this had actually happened to me, that I now got to stand in that same spot, and that, maybe someday, I could become part of someone else’s vision board too. In that moment, I felt like so many of my dreams had come true all at once.”

“Globally, I feel India is still often viewed in a very limited way,” Sadhvi adds. “As a movie buff, I’ve noticed that, in many foreign films, when Indians are cast or included in storylines, there’s often a stereotypical accent used, and colourism is prevalent as well. But India is made up of people with different skin tones, accents, beginnings, and backgrounds. I want to showcase that our people are much more than the boxes we are often put into and belong to a country so rich in diversity and history.”

Speaking of the next phase of her life, Sadhvi says:

“I think I would call this phase ‘re-learning’ because that’s something I’ve realised throughout my journey so far. I’m constantly unlearning and re-learning things. It almost feels like a cocoon period for me, where I’m slowly transforming without knowing exactly what the outcome will look like. Like a butterfly emerging, I don’t know what colour, shape or size of me will come out of it, but I’ll embrace whatever change or growth comes my way.”

Femina Miss India 2026 – 1st Runner Up Rajnandini Pawar shares how her diverse experiences in sports, academics, and the performing arts shaped her path to pageantry. “I’d been extremely inclined towards co-curricular activities in my school. I have always given an equal amount of importance to education as well as creative expression. I’ve had an opportunity to represent my state, my city at divisional level and state levels in squash, swimming, and athletics. And I’ve dedicated every phase of my life accordingly. Dance was also a huge part of my life growing up, I had my first-ever dance performance at the age of three.”

Reflecting on her Femina Miss India journey, Rajnandini says:

“It started with talent hunts and pageants while I was in college, and then finally Femina Miss India Maharashtra happened. Maharashtra is one of the toughest states to crack because the highest number of participants is from here as it is the industry hub. I am grateful to have won, after which Femina Miss India happened. Through the course of the pageant, I did not leave any stone unturned. I didn’t perform in a way where I wanted to win Femina Miss India… I was performing in a way where I wanted to win Miss World from an international point of view.”

Speaking about leadership and youth empowerment, Rajnandini adds:

“Throughout my life, any opportunity of leadership I have had has taught me to take on responsibility and accountability. I think a true leader doesn’t just lead in the sense of walking alone forward but takes their entire team together with them and grows together with the people around them. A good leader is also somebody who is able to take calculated risks, and I know that, when we think of risks, I think of Gen Z, because we’re unafraid to do what we want. We will make sure that we give it a try so that we have no regrets in our lives.”

Femina Miss India World 2026 – 2nd Runner Up Dr Sree Advaita opens up about overcoming a life-altering spinal injury and how resilience helped redefine her purpose. “When my injury was diagnosed, I was thriving in every aspect of life. My dancing, modelling, and academics were all going well. Doctors still do not have a practical explanation for the injury. That phase was physically and mentally exhausting. For close to three years, I had completely given up, but, one day, something inside me shifted. I realised I could not let that become my entire life story. Pageantry and the dream of creating something meaningful kept me going. The injury also taught me that, no matter how hard you work, whatever is destined for you will reach you at the right time.”

Balancing medicine, modelling, and dance, she reflects on the lessons each field has imparted. “Medicine taught me about responsibility and humanity that extend beyond me. In modelling and dance, I perform for myself, but, in medicine, someone else’s life is involved. At the same time, the arts taught me discipline and expression. Every experience in my life has contributed to who I am today.”

Looking beyond the crown, Dr Sree Advaita hopes her journey inspires others to pursue meaningful change. “At the end of the day, I just want to create a space where not only I thrive, but others feel inspired too. I started working towards change long before pageantry through my work in reproductive and women’s health. This platform has amplified my voice. More than fame, I want people to remember me for the kindness I showed and the impact I created. Even if one girl can someday tell me that something I did helped her move forward in life, that would mean the world to me.”

Through their individual stories of ambition, resilience, leadership, and purpose, Sadhvi Sail, Rajnandini Pawar, and Dr Sree Advaita embody a new generation of women redefining success on their own terms. Femina’s May 2026 Cover Story offers readers an intimate look at the women behind the crowns and the journeys that continue beyond the pageant stage.

  • Spider-Noir Showrunner Oren Uziel On Bringing A Darker Spider-Man To 1930s New York

June 1 : Now streaming on Prime Video, Nicholas Cage starrer Spider-Noir brings a darker and more mature take on the Spider-Man universe, following a private investigator navigating crime-ridden 1930s New York. The series has been met with strong praise from audiences and critics worldwide for its distinctive noir aesthetic and fresh spin on the Spider-Man mythos. For showrunner and executive producer Oren Uziel, whose previous credits include The Lost City, 22 Jump Street and Mortal Kombat, the series offered the chance to combine several of his favourite storytelling worlds into one project.

Spider-Noir Showrunner Oren Uziel On Bringing A Darker Spider-Man To 1930s New York

Speaking about what drew him to the series, Uziel said,

“I first got involved through the producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Amy Pascal. I’ve worked with all of them in the past and always had a great experience. I loved that the project was a live action Spider-Man, I loved that it was set in New York in the 1930s and most of all I loved that it was rooted in the Noir genre. I’ve always been a huge fan of film noir, from the classics straight through the neo-noirs of the past 30, 40, 50 years and counting, so I saw ‘Spider-Noir’ as a magical opportunity to stake my claim to this particular corner of the larger Marvel universe.”

Uziel also explained how the series sets itself apart from previous Spider-Man adaptations through its central character. “This version of The Spider is different from other on-screen interpretations of Spider-Man in many ways. For starters, he’s called The Spider instead of Spider-Man. He’s also called Ben Reilly instead of Peter Parker. And lastly but most importantly, he’s a lot older than any previous iteration we’ve seen before. This is an adult. A guy who drinks, smokes and isn’t afraid to fight dirty. A guy who has been through hell and back and lived, barely, to tell the tale.”

This series stars Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage in the lead role, alongside Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson. The guest cast includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson and Kai Caster.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video, the series has Harry Bradbeer serving as director and executive producer on the first two episodes, with Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot as co-showrunners and executive producers. Spider-Noir is now streaming exclusively on Prime Video across India and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The series is available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, and can be experienced in both authentic black-and-white and true-hue full colour.

  • Toral Rasputra on her preparation for Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer

Mumbai, May 28 : Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer promises to bring audiences a fresh and emotional telling of the early years of the Mahabharat, exploring the relationships, values and experiences that shaped some of mythology’s most iconic characters. One such character is Kunti (Toral Rasputra), a woman remembered not just as the mother of the Pandavas, but also as a symbol of strength, sacrifice, and resilience through every challenge life threw at her.

Toral Rasputra on her preparation for Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer

Known for portraying powerful women on screen, Toral approached Kunti not just as a mythological figure, but as a mother navigating impossible circumstances with dignity and strength. To prepare for the role, the actress immersed herself in literature and references around the character. She read books like Teachings of Queen Kunti, The Kaunteyas – Queen Kunti’s Mahabharata and Kunti by Koral Dasgupta to explore different perspectives on the character. Through these readings, Toral discovered the many layers of Kunti, not just as a mother to the Pandavas, but also as a woman constantly balancing duty, sacrifice, guilt, courage and unconditional love. The actress shares that every author portrayed Kunti differently, which inspired her to create her own interpretation of the character for the screen, one that feels emotionally authentic and strong.

Talking about her interpretation of Kunti, Toral Rasputra shared,

“Kunti is such a powerful and emotionally layered character that I knew I wanted to understand her beyond what’s written in the script. I read books on Kunti and each of them gave me a different insight into her personality and journey. What fascinated me most was how every version presented her strength, sacrifices and emotional conflicts in such unique ways. As an actor, it pushed me to think deeper and eventually create my own interpretation of Kunti, a woman who is strong yet sensitive, wise yet emotional. I wanted to portray her in a way that audiences can connect with not just as a queen or a mother, but as a woman whose struggles and resilience still feel relevant today.”

  • Nicolas Cage in Spider Noir on Prime Video Sneak Peek

May 27 : Prime Video’s upcoming series SpiderNoir brings the world of Spider-Man into a darker, moodier space, following a black and white noir style that feels straight out of a classic detective story with comic book blood running through it. Led by Nicolas Cage in his first television project, the series leans into the sharp shadows, heightened drama and pulpy energy of the SpiderNoir universe, making it a natural fit for an actor who has always drawn from film, art and larger than life performance.

SNIPPET | NICOLAS CAGE | SPIDER NOIR | PRIME VIDEO

Speaking about what drew him to SpiderNoir, Nicolas Cage shared,

“I had been imagining a performance presentation for quite some time. It’s no secret that I’m influenced by different art forms, and I had been largely influenced by the pop art of Warhol and Lichtenstein. Just as in “Wild at Heart,” when I drew on Warhol, I thought wouldn’t it be interesting to do a Lichtenstein performance—utilizing comic book energy and fusing it with a classic black and white style of film acting. And lo and behold, along came “SpiderNoir.” My interests were predominantly cinema-based; however, when I learned “SpiderNoir” would be episodic television, I thought that format would lend itself well to my concept since comic books are inherently episodic.”

Along with Academy Award winning actor Nicolas Cage, the series stars Lamorne Morris , Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson. Guest star cast includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.

SpiderNoir is produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video. Emmy Award winning director Harry Bradbeer directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. The series premieres on May 27, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video across India and in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. It will be available to stream in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam in both, authentic black & white and true-hue full color.

  • From Rejection to Redemption: Annisha Garg’s Emotional Cannes 2026 Comeback

May 26: Annisha Garg made an emotional return to the red carpet at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, transforming a story of disappointment into one of resilience, determination and triumph.

From Rejection to Redemption: Annisha Garg’s Emotional Cannes 2026 Comeback

After facing rejection in 2025, Annisha returned to Cannes this year with renewed confidence, calling her appearance not a debut, but a comeback shaped by perseverance and belief. Her journey, marked by setbacks and self-reflection, became one of the festival’s inspiring personal narratives.

Her first red-carpet look featured the striking Nyxara Leopard Cut Out Dress by ITRH, a black-and-gold ensemble with bold cut-outs and a flowing cape that symbolised strength and renewal. According to Annisha, the colour palette represented her personal journey — black for the struggles she endured and gold for resilience and hope.

From Rejection to Redemption: Annisha Garg’s Emotional Cannes 2026 Comeback

Reflecting on the setback she faced last year, Annisha said she had nearly given up after her 2025 rejection, describing it as a moment that made her question whether she truly belonged. However, she chose to return stronger, seeing the experience as a test of patience and determination.

The emotional highlight of her Cannes appearance came with her second look — a white gown by designer Rimzim Dadu, adorned with pearls, floral detailing and delicate fringe. Set against the French coastline, the outfit carried special meaning as it represented a dream she had originally planned to wear in 2025 but was unable to realise.

Calling the gown deeply personal, Annisha described every pearl on the dress as symbolic of the prayers and struggles she carried during the months following her disappointment.

From Rejection to Redemption: Annisha Garg’s Emotional Cannes 2026 Comeback

For Annisha, Cannes 2026 became more than a fashion moment — it became a statement of resilience. She said her return was not about glamour alone, but about proving that setbacks do not define the future and that delayed dreams can still find their moment.

Her comeback story at Cannes stands as a reminder that rejection can become the beginning of a stronger return, turning adversity into inspiration.
